Commitment is the key to so much. ... A romance will fall short if it not committed to.

Commitment is the key to so much.

You can’t lose weight if you don’t commit yourself to do so.

You will not develop a friendship if you refuse to invest time and effort into it on a regular basis.

A romance will fall short if it not committed to.

You won’t find the meaning of life, which is to be happy, unless you make a guarantee within yourself that you will search until you find what you are looking for.

The rest of the text for this post follows immediately after this video pane:

The Universe is more than prepared to give you what you want, but you have to be the initiator. Absolute and perfect acceptance is waiting for you within the Universe. But the Universe is so benign that It waits for you to begin seeking.

Beginning is good. To continue in commitment is essential to finding anything.

At the beginning of the year, January, I heard a term that was new to me. I was at the gym for Tai Chi class and the parking lot was crowded with many vehicles. The others in the class remarked as to how full the lot was. They said to each other that there were a lot of resolutioners at the gym that night.

At first I couldn’t figure out what “resolutioners” meant. Just as I was asking someone the definition, it dawned on me – these are folks who made New Year’s resolutions to work out.

Implied was the idea that the parking lot would soon be less and less full as the resolutioners broke their resolutions.

The commitment was lacking.

So what do you need to commit to if you are to find some answers? To find the meaning of life and the happiness that comes with it, you need to commit to making and keeping a significant connection, or liaison, between yourself and The Source of All There Is.

This takes time and effort. There is no substitute.

The time commitment is virtually every day for ten to thirty minutes. Of course, you can start small – just ten minutes – and grow your time. You can also start small with the effort.

In a meditative state, start light by simply concentrating on your breathing. Listen to and be conscious of your in and out breaths.

Over time you will want to explore the many types of meditation available to you. Plus the many forms of meditation – to see which is the best for you. These can involve everything from trying to keep a yellow triangle on a white background in mind, to the standing meditation of Qigong.

When you liaise with The Source of All There Is on a regular and consistent footing, you then need to further that commitment by keeping at it for the rest of your life. Meditation is not something you achieve and then never need do again. To maintain the feeling of meaning and happiness, you need to keep at it.

This keeping-at-it will yield for you the meaning of your life. Happiness is the meaning of your life. You are wired to be happy. When you make connection with The Source you power up that circuit.

When you are in contact with The Source, you will discover that you are completely, totally, unconditionally accepted. These words cannot do this concept justice. In that acceptance you will be happy for there is no higher state of being that being completely accepted.

This acceptance is Love. Love that regards you as worthy no matter what. Happiness is personified in your life.

So, make a commitment. Keep a commitment. Starting right now. Commitment works in every area of life. When you do commit, you will find the answers you are searching for in every area of your life.

What are the basics of the meaning of life and happiness? First, understand that I believe that happiness is the meaning of life. To understand that you then need these three: connect with the Grand Consciousness, change your thoughts thereby, beam your bliss into the world.

Happiness Is the Meaning of Life.

The remainder of the text of this blog are immediately this video pane:

What is the one thing that the vast majority of people in the world look for in life? Happiness. Families are developed, food and shelter is earned, jobs are pursue to feed and shelter families. All this is done so that folks will be happy. They will live their definition of what makes them happy.

The problem can be that these exterior things and events do not make for happiness. Why? They change. They can be taken away. When they change for the worse, unhappiness, defined by the person suffering through the change, results. When a family member dies, especially a son or daughter, heartache is the result.

Most people spend their entire lives chasing happiness. Often running into the brick wall of unhappiness. What’s to be done?

Decide You Are Going to Be Happy.

That’s all there is to this paragraph. Decide you are going to be happy. Then, following the steps below, decide you are happy.

Connect with the Divine Consciousness.

The Divine Consciousness is the only “person” who will not, possibly, bring you unhappiness. This All-Pervasive Spirit is entirely out for your good. It will never make any demands on you. The Supreme Spirit never demands that you worship It. It does not need your worship. It only asks that you let the Supreme Spirit love you.

The God/Universe accepts you and your life just as you are. You connect with this unconditional love and total acceptance through meditation. A way to begin, during meditation, is to see a golden beam of light flooding your spirit. This beam comes to you from the All-Pervasive Spirit. Allow it to bathe your spirit and to help you feel loved and accepted. Over time you will find the deep, deep happiness of being loved and accepted.

Change Your Thoughts.

When you have truly accepted that you are accepted and accepted that you are loved unconditionally, you have the power to change your thoughts. Change them to the positive. Yes, it takes effort. But now you have the power to add to your thought-resume all the positives you can come up with.

Changed thoughts are the key to installing happiness in your life. Yes, you will continue to have negative thoughts. We cannot control what thoughts come into our heads. But we do have control over what thoughts we entertain. Let the negative thoughts go by replacing them with positive ones.

Beam Your Bliss Into The World.

This last basic step is most important. Do not neglect it. When you have found your happiness inside, some name it bliss, you have got to beam that bliss to the outside.

In other words, you have got to practice your happiness in the physical world. You do that through altruism and kindness. Simply do your best to build up everything and everyone you encounter.

As you do this, the happiness and meaning of your world cannot help but increase.

Many people do not know how to start to meditate to find their way to meaning and happiness for their lives. It is something with which I had personal experience as well as helping others to begin their road of meditation.
Lois knocked on the door frame of my office door, the door itself being swung open entirely. I bid her come in and sit down. Lois was in her mid forties with deeply tanned skin. She obviously spent a great deal of time in the sun. She was rather short at about 5 foot 4 inches tall. I asked her how I might be of help.

The remainder of the text is immediately after this video pane. (pain?)

httpvh://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeiSHcASwCY

Lois said, “I am having trouble getting into meditation. It’s like a foreign language to me. Actually, sometimes, I can’t get my mind to slow down. Other times I fall asleep. When I am awake during my attempts at meditation, I have nasty thoughts that I try to push away, but they hang on and destroy my time in deep thinking. What’s up with me?”

“The things you describe are very natural, especially if you just starting out,” I said.

Lois continued without any prompting from me, “I want to try to discover my happiness and the meaning of my life as you taught us. I just can’t seem to get started properly.”

I then gave her my list of 8 tips that would help her meditate.

1. Everyone starts learning meditation by dealing with the “monkey mind.” We call it the “monkey mind” because we have a tough time turning off all the mental activity. It seems our minds spring around and around, up and down, like a spooked monkey.

2. What you are seeking is a connection with the Divine or whatever you name what many people call God. (Whatever name works for you is fine.) This unity is built over time and practice. But it is where you are going to find the meaning of your life and happiness.

3. Give yourself time. As the sessions of meditation go by one by one, the mind will run down, like the mechanism of a wind-up watch. How soon or late for you specifically this will occur, I cannot say. Each person will be unique. I guarantee, however, that if you faithfully meditate well-nigh every day, you mind will stop its ceaseless springing about.

4. When thoughts come to your mind, in the beginning of your rumination sessions, just “look” at those thoughts and let them pass through your mind. When you simply accept whatever thoughts come to your mind and not force them away, they will run their course. Peace begins to come to you in that moment.

5. By the same token, when nasty thoughts come to mind, look “directly” at them. Do not try to escape them. Suppose someone said something unpleasant to you earlier in your day. Those words and the hurt that you felt keep presenting themselves to your mind. Let them come to you; they will leave your mind soon enough. It is just the normal process of thinking. When you know this and allow it within your frame of reference, you will furthering your peace of mind from your very first session of meditation.

6. Sometimes we fall asleep when thinking deeply while in a comfortable position. This is natural. One thing you can be thankful for is that you have relaxed enough to fall asleep. That in itself, the relaxation, is of immediate benefit. However, you may need to be somewhere and if you fall asleep, you might miss that appointment. I use the very simple idea of purchasing a cheap timer, but one that does not tick-tock. Usually these are run on a battery. I picked up one for $2 at the supermarket. Set the number of minutes on it that you want to spend in meditation. It will wake you if you need to be awakened. I also use the timer because I usually lose track of time when thinking deeply. With the time set, I do not need to concern myself with the time getting away from me.

7. Face eagerly any negative thoughts that come up into consciousness. Maybe your mind wants you to deal with your weight. Maybe the bills you need to pay keep “interfering” with your deepest thinking. My point is, just face them ardently, and then let them go. Your mind is such a marvelous instrument that if you confront something, which you may need to do in life, the thought will present itself to you, then fade away.

8. People are generally impatient; they want all their meditative work to be complete in one session of meditation. It does not work that way. You can gain some peace in that first session. You can acquire a beginning at understanding the meaning of your life at that first time. You can garner commencement of happiness in the very first session. Your life will change for the better beginning in that first session. But life is much more complicated than anyone, I repeat, anyone can tackle in one sitting.

9. (Bonus Tip) There are many ways to meditate from the traditional sitting and thinking deeply, to the walking-around type. There is also the deeply-observing kind of meditation where one examines something as intensely as possible. Let’s say it is a blade of grass. One observes the blade from every approach. Absorb its color. Watches it shudder in the wind. In other words, become as savvy about the blade as is possible. The point is this: If one form of meditation does not work for you after you have it given an ample trial, look for another method that you really find useful. Simply “google” the word meditation on the Internet. A wealth of techniques and methods will be found.

Lois wrote down these tips. She said, “That really gives me a handle on how to begin.” Over time, as I noticed her in our context; she seemed to become better before my eyes.

There you have 8 tips, plus a bonus, to help you begin meditation. Through such work you will find meaning for your life. Meditation will also help you feel happier immediately.
