The Meaning of Life, To Be Happy, and Three Keys to Happiness in the World
There three keys to happiness that spring from the world and everts around you. These are: insightfulness, generosity and empathy.
First, nurture insightfulness toward what is going on around you. Most of us do not seek to understand our own world until that universe impinges upon us. We do not make ourselves aware.
Now, of course, it is impossible to be aware of all things. But look into your life and see what you need to be wise about.

Example: I received an email telling me that one of my money accounts had been corrupted. This email tried to convince me that I needed to do something immediately or my account would be closed. The email then gave me a form to fill out. On that form was a request for my social security number. However, I remembered reading that no legitimate website would ask for my social security number. I immediately closed the email. Then I got in touch with the money account staff. They assured me there was nothing wrong with my accounts from their end.
If I had not paid attention to warnings that came my way, I may have given someone the opportunity to break into my accounts and steal. A type of satisfaction was mine from this incident; satisfaction is a form of exterior happiness.
Second, be forthcoming with your wealth. Generosity. Hold on a minute, you say you are not wealthy. You always have something to give, no matter your income.
Example: My wife and I have limited funds. My wife, however, earns about $100 when she acts as presiding judge at a voting station. Yes, she gets money for this act of community service. But she also gets gratification from serving her community. Her time is well spent, she feels. We also have picked three causes that we give money to on a monthly basis. These are small amounts of money but two of them help humans and one helps animals. We feel good when we give of ourselves. You can give time, energy or money. Obviously feeling good about oneself is part of being happy.
Third, have empathy for persons in your life, or those that simply pass through for a brief time. Empathy implies a deep understanding of another person and accepting them as they are. Sympathy is far more general and can employ regard for another in a shallow way.
Example: here is where random acts of kindness come into your life. This is not quite the same as being forthcoming with your wealth. Empathy is an attitude.
For more than 38 years I spent my professional career in trying to be kind to people, even if they were not kind to me. Did your parents say to you, “kill them with kindness?” Even when people are mean or spiteful to you, you try to gain the upper hand for yourself by returning kindness for pettiness.
The only danger you face in being kind to others is that you will feel so good about yourself, that it may go to your head. That probably won’t happen, however, because soon a pettiness will be flung your way. Some people are just contrary. Answer contrariness with empathy.
There you have three keys to help you obtain outward happiness: insightfulness, generosity, empathy.

A key life phrase – I am conscious of my mind – will change your entire outlook on life. Many people, perhaps you, dear reader, have a mind of jumbled thoughts. Mind skipping in every direction imaginable. This causes any number of problems. Sometimes it causes something as simple as forgetting what you went to the refrigerator for. Or something even more serious, like forgetting an anniversary or birthday. Or something even more serious, like dropping your attention from the road as you are driving.
A key life phrase that will make you over: I am a well-being warrior.
