Happiness Is A Revolutionary Act

Actually choosing to be happy is a revolutionary act. Though happiness remains one of the most popular goals among those polled, it is not yet in the mainstream.

It is not in the mainstream because people, by and large, do not know that happiness is not produced from material things, nothing wrong with material things per se. But many folks believe that if they have everything they want, they will be happy.

When they have everything they want, they discover happiness has not been acquired. They may even feel less satisfied now that the achievement of things is accomplished.

The remainder of the text of this post follows immediately after this video pane:

So, to capture and keep happiness is going against the mainstream; it is a revolutionary act.

It is also radical because you have to do something different to find and maintain happiness. You need to develop a meditative-life. (Some folks will want to call this a prayer-life. That’s fine.)

You have to take the time to plan and execute a daily regime of meditation. It need not be a long period of time. Anywhere from ten to thirty minutes, whatever suits, will be first class.

Does not need to be long nor does it need to be arduous. You can even imagine yourself sitting besides a great, blue mountain lake. Into that lake you drop all of your cares, troubles, concerns, joy, hopes, needs, wants, and watch as they sink out of insight, as if absorb by that lake.

Then you simply, in your imagination, drink in the pine smells around that lake and the beauty of the landscape and sky nearby that lake.

Do this lake-vision exercise in meditation once a day for a week and I bet you will feel much happier. You have detached yourself from so much of your life that you will be lighter in spirit.

But to be lighter in spirit is a rebellious act. To carry self-imposed burdens is the norm. This is not to say that there are no real burdens to carry. There are. But so many folks create and construct their own burdens when they could just as easily mentally set them aside and walk free.

To walk free is to know that The Source is totally accepting of you just as you are. That’s where happiness arrives. When you discover that the meaning of life is happiness through total and unconditional acceptance from The Source, you will have joined the revolution.

You will have joined the revolution of those who choose to be happy. Yes, happiness is a choice which involves accepting your unconditional approval from The Source.

This is sometimes difficult to understand. Joy is an emotion that spontaneously washes over you like a cooling wave during a very hot day at the beach.

Happiness is a choice – a way of viewing your life and your world. Joy is spontaneous; happiness means deciding to respond to life in a certain way. Happiness is not spontaneous as such, rather it is a decision and it is a revolutionary decision.

You have heard of the idea of whether the glass is half full or half empty. How you see that glass of water is up to you. You decide. If you have previously decided one way, you can change your mind and decide the opposite way.

Did you get that? You can change your mind. When you have found happiness as the meaning of life, you choose to follow your intuition and be happy. You are happy, you discover, because you have found total acceptance in The Source of All There Is.

In these actions of mind and spirit your have lifted yourself out of the workaday into the extraordinary, the revolutionary, way of being in the world – happy.

Why is this revolutionary? You need look no further than the vast majority of your family, friends and acquaintances. You will see that they are unhappy and complaining perhaps 90% of the time.

But you have chosen to be different. You have chosen to find the meaning of life, which is to be happy, by accepting your acceptance. In reveling in that acceptance you know the emotion of joy, but you know the decision of happiness.

Make sure you are a part of this radical, revolutionary spirit-action. Be happy.

Radical Freedom and the Meaning of Life and Happiness

Have you ever felt like a stranger in your own skin? As if you did not fit within the world in which you found yourself?

I felt that way many times going as far back as I can remember. I have felt as if I was born too late, or in the wrong geographic location.

Then I happened on a secret that has led me to begin to have radical freedom. I discovered that when I divest myself of the ideas that were placed in my head by my caretakers, I feel more at home in my own skin because I am freer.

Rest of the text for this post follows right after this video pane:

I do not mean I gave up the ideas, for example, about right and wrong that I was taught. I do mean I gave up those ideas about right and wrong that are inappropriate for me. I was taught that people of color are inferior to so-called white people.

That idea imprisoned me. I have worked to dispossess myself of that concept since I learned it was inaccurate and stupid.

Religion was another major idea I had needed to let go of. There was a time when I was so caught in the web of guilt produced by religion that if I missed going to church one Sunday, just one – for good reason, I wallowed in fear of retribution from God for days afterward.

Then there were all the trappings of religion. It was drilled into me, for example, that the book which was regarded as Scripture was the authentic word of God. Turns out that it is paper and ink and ideas developed by humans but given the aura of undeserved sacredness.

Prophets were a big deal too. Beyond obvious wisdom in the writings of these men (they were almost all men), their words were the absolute truth about future times. Turns out that their words, even if really spoken, were written down after the events occurred. Surely they would portray accurate happenings if recorded after the fact.

The biggest problem I had was being taught that unless I believed in a particular way about a particular messiah, I was going straight to Hell after my death. This was the heftiest prison of all. It was their way or the highway – so the church taught.

Believe precisely in a specific person or I was condemned for all eternity to suffer fiery punishment. Absolutely nothing was said about an all-accepting concept.

It has taken many years to free myself from such tyrannies, tyrannies of the spirit. It need not take you as long to free yourself because here is someone offering this freeing knowledge to you.

Along the way you will find the meaning of life and happiness. These are not discovered as some adjunct to everything else, but as integral parts to the whole.

Whether you begin your adventure of radical freedom with looking for meaning in life, or by discovering radical freedom from tyrannies of the spirit first and then understanding the meaning of life, your road is clear and dry.

You see, to find the meaning of life you need to make contact with The Source of All There Is. When you discover The Source you will see or feel no tyrannies whatsoever. The Source is totally and completely accepting of you just as you are.

When you discover your unconditional acceptance you will be happy. Happy because there is no greater feeling that being absolutely accepted just as you are. This is often called love.

But in the midst of that awesome acceptance you will be free, absolutely free, as well. Acceptance means there are no tyrannies of spirit with which to contend or about which to feel guilty. You are radically free in unqualified acceptance.

When you know perfect acceptance, you will feel at home in your own skin. Why? Because you do not need to be in anybody else’s skin. No tyrannies of spirit here. You do not need to be in any other place than where you find yourself right now. No tyrannies.

Work to free yourself beginning right now. Divest yourself of all tyrannies for all of them, all, are false. While you are at it, you will find the meaning of life and happiness as well.

Commitment and the Meaning of Life and Happiness

Commitment is the key to so much.

You can’t lose weight if you don’t commit yourself to do so.

You will not develop a friendship if you refuse to invest time and effort into it on a regular basis.

A romance will fall short if it not committed to.

You won’t find the meaning of life, which is to be happy, unless you make a guarantee within yourself that you will search until you find what you are looking for.

The rest of the text for this post follows immediately after this video pane:

The Universe is more than prepared to give you what you want, but you have to be the initiator. Absolute and perfect acceptance is waiting for you within the Universe. But the Universe is so benign that It waits for you to begin seeking.

Beginning is good. To continue in commitment is essential to finding anything.

At the beginning of the year, January, I heard a term that was new to me. I was at the gym for Tai Chi class and the parking lot was crowded with many vehicles. The others in the class remarked as to how full the lot was. They said to each other that there were a lot of resolutioners at the gym that night.

At first I couldn’t figure out what “resolutioners” meant. Just as I was asking someone the definition, it dawned on me – these are folks who made New Year’s resolutions to work out.

Implied was the idea that the parking lot would soon be less and less full as the resolutioners broke their resolutions.

The commitment was lacking.

So what do you need to commit to if you are to find some answers? To find the meaning of life and the happiness that comes with it, you need to commit to making and keeping a significant connection, or liaison, between yourself and The Source of All There Is.

This takes time and effort. There is no substitute.

The time commitment is virtually every day for ten to thirty minutes. Of course, you can start small – just ten minutes – and grow your time. You can also start small with the effort.

In a meditative state, start light by simply concentrating on your breathing. Listen to and be conscious of your in and out breaths.

Over time you will want to explore the many types of meditation available to you. Plus the many forms of meditation – to see which is the best for you. These can involve everything from trying to keep a yellow triangle on a white background in mind, to the standing meditation of Qigong.

When you liaise with The Source of All There Is on a regular and consistent footing, you then need to further that commitment by keeping at it for the rest of your life. Meditation is not something you achieve and then never need do again. To maintain the feeling of meaning and happiness, you need to keep at it.

This keeping-at-it will yield for you the meaning of your life. Happiness is the meaning of your life. You are wired to be happy. When you make connection with The Source you power up that circuit.

When you are in contact with The Source, you will discover that you are completely, totally, unconditionally accepted. These words cannot do this concept justice. In that acceptance you will be happy for there is no higher state of being that being completely accepted.

This acceptance is Love. Love that regards you as worthy no matter what. Happiness is personified in your life.

So, make a commitment. Keep a commitment. Starting right now. Commitment works in every area of life. When you do commit, you will find the answers you are searching for in every area of your life.
