Sharing the Meaning of Life from "This" Perspective

The Meaning of Life Comes from an Unbounded, Measureless God

Someone, replying to a Tweet I had put on Twitter, called me a bad person. I had said that when we think lack, we shall have lack; that when we think abundance we shall have abundance. This person said I was a bad person because this idea of mine was “half-baked.” I replied in a kindly fashion and then began to think. Was my idea half-baked? I realized that it was not.

A man named Napoleon Hill wrote a very, very famous book that has stood the test of time. It is still being read by those who wish to gain wealth. The book’s title is Think and Grow Rich. That’s exactly what I said, only I used more and different words. I certainly am no Napoleon Hill, but we have the same idea.

Further, the whole idea of The Law of Attraction, made famous in the book titled The Secret, is that when you think of something it tends to manifest itself in your life. When you think about bad luck, you are very likely to attract bad luck to yourself. The opposite is also true; when you think about abundance, you are likely to attract abundance to your life. This is the true power of intention.

You see, we are dealing with a limitless God. (I prefer to name God “The Source of All That Is, but that’s just my preference.) All that is, was or ever will be can be found in God. The Source is unbounded and measureless. When I made a living as a Life Coach with a group of people and they needed to raise money for their building, they produced a capital fund campaign. But immediately into the planning for this campaign they began to voice such ideas as, “Well, the people only have so much money. We can’t expect too much.” They though lack, instead of abundance.

I was able to persuade them to see that they were dealing with The Source of All That Is. Yes, individual persons only have so much money to spare. But God has “all the money in the world.” When they saw what was being said about The Source, they changed their way of thinking. Their campaigns were successful as long s they thought abundance.

You can do the very same in your life. You may not have a large bank account. But The Source has all that you will ever need. You need to tap into this Source and watch as abundance is manifested in your life. The meaning of your life is only limited by what you believe.

Enjoy the Meaning Of Life Continuing to Do Good from the Abundance of Your Heart

I have found that people weary of doing good and therefore miss the meaning of life. It is because they do not feel enough excess “being” on the interior. It’s not that they do not have it there. They just don’t recognize it still. So, they rally around the flag for a while. They work out of the overflow of their heart for a time. Then, things change. They fatigue.

But further, if your only motivation for doing good is to feel good about yourself, you are trekking through a very dry desert. One’s motivation to do good for others soon dries up, if there is no discovery of the excess within. You may want to ask me, “How can there not be an excess within you? Isn’t it just automatically there or not?”

The answer is yes and no. Yes, there is always an excess, an abundance of your spirit. No, you cannot always feel that abundance. If you do not search for the water in the desert, you will not find it. You must search within for the spirit-well, which is always overflowing. You need to concentrate on being in touch with that well. It is a well of eternal water, water eternally flowing. You do this searching by focusing internally on The Source of All That Is. When you take your focus off The Eternal Water, your spirit dries up. Your energy for well-doing is degraded. When, however, you take regular time to focus on the Eternal Water, It will flow through your spirit as an ever-life-giving stream.

I have watched this happen time and time again. It has happened in my own life. Whenever I drift away from The Source of All That Is, I begin to feel like I’m walking through a parching desert. Dry. Desolate of soul. When I “drift back” to The Source I find my interior refilling like a reservoir after a steady, day-long downpour.

Do this in your own life. “Drift back” to The Source of All There Is by being aware in and of every moment. Then you will never weary of well-doing. The meaning of life will be a constantly discovered country for you.

The Meaning of Life Proceeds from the Abundance of The Self

The meaning of life proceeds from the abundance of the self. It is out of the abundance of the self that making a lasting contribution to humankind comes. Without a rich and full “being,” “doing” has no backing. It has no container out of which may pour the energy and imagination of effort.

Here are two examples.

Mother Teresa. A woman, small in stature, who went to India to serve. There she served the poorest of the poor as they were dying. With great respect I say that this was a great work. It was a lasting contribution to humankind.

I did not know Mother Teresa personally. All I know of her and her work is what I have read or heard. I just cannot imagine that anyone could keep on the work she did over a period of decades without having some inner resource. “To do” is a working out what’s inside, “to be.” Her “to be” was a connection to what some will name God. Her volition to go on in the face of so much sadness and death could only have come from what was on the interior. Her work could not possibly be sustained if her inner abundance were not strong enough.

I know this because I experienced it. (Second example.)
No, I do not compare myself to Mother Teresa. But I do know within myself some of what she experienced. In my professional career as a life coach I had occasion to visit nursing homes on a regular basis. In those nursing homes I would see and converse with persons of great age and sometimes great infirmity. And I tell you that without a strong inner center attached to The Source of All That Is, there was no way I could continue to go to those nursing homes.

Now, please, I’m not talking about the persons themselves that I visited. I am talking about the conditions of their minds and bodies. Too much to internalize. I must give an everlasting respect to health care persons who spend after day working in those nursing homes. Without some kind of inner strength, whatever name you give it, they could not do their work.

Without this sort of inner self-abundance, inner strength, you would miss the meaning of life.
