The Meaning of Life and Albert Camus and His Confusion over The Meaning of Life

The Meaning of Life and Albert Camus and His ConfusionOn Twitter there are at least these two quotes circulating from Albert Camus (one of the greatest philosophers of the 20th century):
1. “You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.”
2. “Many people die because they judge life not worth living. I conclude that the meaning of life is the most urgent of questions.”

Of course, anyone has the right to be confused. Or perhaps Camus wrote one quote in one period of his life. Then changed his mind in another period. And, after all, Ralph Waldo Emerson said, A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines. With consistency a great soul has simply nothing to do.

I don’t think the two statements can by Camus easily stand beside each other. I disagree with number one. And, number two, I think it a shame that people come to judge life not worth living.

I say that when you are searching for happiness and you find it, you’ll be happy. Doesn’t that follow, one after the other? I think so. When you make contact and keep connected to The Source of All That Is (God, some will name It), you will find Cosmic Happiness at the core of your being. When this happiness pervades your entire being and life’s work, you will have cemented the meaning of life in your life, for your life. I simply believe that happiness can be found and you can be fulfilled, therefore, in the meaning of life.

I think it a true shame when people find life not worth living. I am sure that circumstances beyond my imagination cause some people to feel that life is not worth living. I hope they make contact with The Cosmic Harmony and understand that their experiences are only temporary. “This too shall pass.” That they can find their way to understanding that life is experiencing and some of what they experience within themselves, they have chosen to assign to the circumstance.

The meaning of life, I too believe, is the most urgent of all questions. All else, fail none, is less important. Yes, some folks, perhaps a majority, go through their entire lives never finding the meaning of life. This is not a scolding, this is a pitying. As they never find the meaning of life they are never happy. Know anyone who seems never, ever to be happy? We all know at least one person who finds fault or its pessimistic all the time. Therefore, they cannot come to the judgement that life is worth living. Complete or nearly complete pessimism leads only to death  – there is nothing left for the thorough pessimist.

Yes, again, we all have tragedies or circumstances happen in our lives wherein we question the meaning of life. I do not mean in any way to minimize such situations or heartaches. But when we find our bliss at the core of our beings, The Eternal Harmony residing there, then we expand our beings and taken in the Whole of Life. In other words, we expand our beings into happiness, harmony, love. And the Universe, as The Divine Consciousness, answers us back with harmonic reverberations.  Then comes peace, a peace that passes all understanding at our intellectual levels. It can only understood in the spirit.

What ought all this discussion lead you to do? Find happiness as the meaning of life. “The purpose of life is the expansion of happiness.” Deepak The Purpose of Life is the Expansion of Happiness. Deepak ChopraChopra. From that happiness find life worth living despite what may be occurring on the outside of your being. Live and be happy. Be happy and live. Imprint this upon your DNA.
