Sharing the Meaning of Life from "This" Perspective

The Meaning of Life Comes from an Unbounded, Measureless God

Someone, replying to a Tweet I had put on Twitter, called me a bad person. I had said that when we think lack, we shall have lack; that when we think abundance we shall have abundance. This person said I was a bad person because this idea of mine was “half-baked.” I replied in a kindly fashion and then began to think. Was my idea half-baked? I realized that it was not.

A man named Napoleon Hill wrote a very, very famous book that has stood the test of time. It is still being read by those who wish to gain wealth. The book’s title is Think and Grow Rich. That’s exactly what I said, only I used more and different words. I certainly am no Napoleon Hill, but we have the same idea.

Further, the whole idea of The Law of Attraction, made famous in the book titled The Secret, is that when you think of something it tends to manifest itself in your life. When you think about bad luck, you are very likely to attract bad luck to yourself. The opposite is also true; when you think about abundance, you are likely to attract abundance to your life. This is the true power of intention.

You see, we are dealing with a limitless God. (I prefer to name God “The Source of All That Is, but that’s just my preference.) All that is, was or ever will be can be found in God. The Source is unbounded and measureless. When I made a living as a Life Coach with a group of people and they needed to raise money for their building, they produced a capital fund campaign. But immediately into the planning for this campaign they began to voice such ideas as, “Well, the people only have so much money. We can’t expect too much.” They though lack, instead of abundance.

I was able to persuade them to see that they were dealing with The Source of All That Is. Yes, individual persons only have so much money to spare. But God has “all the money in the world.” When they saw what was being said about The Source, they changed their way of thinking. Their campaigns were successful as long s they thought abundance.

You can do the very same in your life. You may not have a large bank account. But The Source has all that you will ever need. You need to tap into this Source and watch as abundance is manifested in your life. The meaning of your life is only limited by what you believe.

The Meaning of Life Means Enjoying the Excess That Is Already Within You

This is unexpected. The only excess that most people find within themselves is something of a negative. Some eat too much (probably like myself). Some smoke too much, drink too much, procrastinate too much. Those and others are the usual excesses that people find within themselves.

But some people are “surprised by joy.” When you look within and focus on who you really are, you will find a river of joy running through you. You do this by focusing through prayer or meditation – a complete awareness of who you are really. And this great river of joy that runs through you? Why, it is none other than the Love of The Source of All That Is. This Love can be described in no other way than metaphors. The River metaphor is the one I choose for today’s blog.

A great river like the Amazon feeds the surrounding land with life giving water all year through. It never ceases to flow; never even threatens to slow down, in the case of The Source of All There Is. Its soothing flow is music to the ears of the ones who realize that this Love flows through them constantly. Off in this smaller channel are modest eddies where the water seems to flow more quietly and in less volume. These are places where one may catch the breath and be calm in order to contemplate the great Love that is available. The Grand Love that is in excess.

You may then return to the exceeding torrent that is the main channel and simply feel the power that that heavy, wild flow engenders within you. You know such strength and determination in that torrent. As if, when you make yourself part of it, it sweeps away all disasters, all stresses, all negatives, all sadness. When you figuratively give yourself to the Niagra of Spirit-Water, you feel yourself all powerful when it comes to life’s trials and tribulations.

That is the excess that you can feel as you understand further the meaning of life. Joy abounds. Confidence fills “your lungs.” You have come to understand the joy of the meaning of life.

Enjoy the Meaning Of Life Continuing to Do Good from the Abundance of Your Heart

I have found that people weary of doing good and therefore miss the meaning of life. It is because they do not feel enough excess “being” on the interior. It’s not that they do not have it there. They just don’t recognize it still. So, they rally around the flag for a while. They work out of the overflow of their heart for a time. Then, things change. They fatigue.

But further, if your only motivation for doing good is to feel good about yourself, you are trekking through a very dry desert. One’s motivation to do good for others soon dries up, if there is no discovery of the excess within. You may want to ask me, “How can there not be an excess within you? Isn’t it just automatically there or not?”

The answer is yes and no. Yes, there is always an excess, an abundance of your spirit. No, you cannot always feel that abundance. If you do not search for the water in the desert, you will not find it. You must search within for the spirit-well, which is always overflowing. You need to concentrate on being in touch with that well. It is a well of eternal water, water eternally flowing. You do this searching by focusing internally on The Source of All That Is. When you take your focus off The Eternal Water, your spirit dries up. Your energy for well-doing is degraded. When, however, you take regular time to focus on the Eternal Water, It will flow through your spirit as an ever-life-giving stream.

I have watched this happen time and time again. It has happened in my own life. Whenever I drift away from The Source of All That Is, I begin to feel like I’m walking through a parching desert. Dry. Desolate of soul. When I “drift back” to The Source I find my interior refilling like a reservoir after a steady, day-long downpour.

Do this in your own life. “Drift back” to The Source of All There Is by being aware in and of every moment. Then you will never weary of well-doing. The meaning of life will be a constantly discovered country for you.
